Would you buy or sell a hearing aid through this site?
A few people have responded to my article about second hand hearing aids – there’s been a few offering aids either cheaply or for free and a few people asking for them.
Would you consider using this site to buy or sell a hearing aid?
If enough people are interested and you feel that this site is a trusted place to buy and sell hearing aids then I’ll try and set something up. A deaf Craigslist or something like that. I’m not looking to make any money from this – I strongly believe many people would benefit from a second hand market and I would love to see it happen.
Please let me know what you think. Good or bad idea? Legal minefield? Would you, or do you know someone, who would use it?

We have a pair of Siemens CENTRA Active – CIELO 2 Active hearing aids. We purchased them this year, my mother wore them approximately 2 weeks………and unfortunately passed away in March 2008. We would love to have these hearing aids used by someone – but we did pay thousands and if there is a chance we can sell them, naturally at a lower price, that would be our first choice. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I am planning on adding a section to this site to allow people to buy and sell hearing aids online. I’m hoping it’ll be ready in 2-4 weeks. It will be completely free to use – so if you can wait a few weeks then you will be able to sell those aids on this site!

I would do anything to get my father an old hearing aid, I have no disposable income and have used my credit card almost to the max to pay for caring for my parents. I would do anything to have my father hear again. He used to love music.

I purchased a pair of Siemans Accuris digital hearing aids in August 2006.
Since purchasing them, within a few months my hearing problem improved and I no longer required the hearing aids.
Therefore, it is with regret, that the hearing aids have not been used in all this time.
I paid almost £3,000 for them on the date of purchase, which was alot of money out of my funds.
Although, at the time my hearing was a priority and I had the funds available to purchase the hearing aids.
That’s why in my opinion, if I’d known about second hand hearing aids being available.
I would certainly have considered this option.
To give someone else the opportunity II’d be willing to sell my hearing aids at a reasonable cost that people can afford and put their quality of hearing first

Where will you find the services of a second-hand hearing aid audiologist in order to confirm that the second-hand hearing aids are appropriate for your hearing loss and then correctly program them to your hearing loss ?
Inappropriate or incorrectly programmed hearing aids can damage your remaining hearing further !!
If you can’t afford correctly specified new hearing aids then the NHS are there to help at no charge…….
Second Hand Hearing Aids ,specially if there still under warranty would be great! Especially with the all the money that can be saved.They can be easily reprogrammed by an audiologist to fit your needs. The one thing you must do before hand is research the brand and type most fitting for you.

buy hearing aid online may not be good idea unless you willing to pay audiologist to adjust your hearing aid every time for check up or services, so better to buy from audiologist or hearing aid place and you will always get free services to check if working properly. My BTE (2) work fine and everytime I go for adjust, I get free. no fee services or pay tube to attach earmold. replace tube every 6 months earmold every 3 or 4 years. so, better to buy from Hearing aid shop than online.
I would defiantly purchase here. As for after sale service I still have to pay for them even with a new hearing aid so there will be no difference between new and second hand.
I’ve been hard of hearing for a number of years. I couldn’t do my job without hearing aids. I am a teacher and depend on hearing well. I purchase new hearing aids every other year or so and would love to be able to sell my old still good ones.
We were able to buy hearing aids for my husband 9 years ago. Since then one has broken and can’t be repaired and the other is so old it’s about shot. We just went through cancer treatment and ca’t afford to buy new ones either and we’d be willing to buy used. We’d go to our audiologist and she’d program, molds, etc…whatever necessary. I hope something comes of this, it sounds like lots of people would benefit!

I am a 76 year old man living on old age pension and canada pension. I payed $2300 for hearing aids at “listen it up” five years ago. My sister generously covered the cost. Two years ago my apartment was robbed and my hearing aids went missing . I’ve been without them ever since. I can hear male voices if spoken clear enough, but have trouble hearing women or children and my daughter’s and grandchildren’s voices are my favorite sounds. Is there any help availble?

I am amazed someone isn’t doing this already. All you really need is a custom earpiece to put the used hearing aid in. The hearing aids are such a racket. When you can purchase an Ipod for a few hundred dollars but a hearing aid costs $2,000. Give me a break, it is the same radio frequencies. What do they cost to make (uncustomized) anyone know? Sort of like eyeglasses, $1.00 at tje dp;;ar stpre. I feel you have a good idea and would work fine for those of us with hearing aids already that would like to upgrade.

I have a pair of Bernafon by swiss ear hearing aids. They were used for less then a month. We paid over $3000 for them. I am asking $800.00 for them. I live in Florida, but will ship them anywhere. July 2, 2009. I think you have a good Idea. I have wished I could do something like you propose for hearing aids, wheel chairs, lifts, etc. The letters already posted mostly refer to high end hearing aids. I wear cheaper behind the ear models. I already have ear molds and tubing so I wish I could find a good working bte for a reasonable price. I once came across someone from Houston who was selling these bte aids for $20.00 each, but I lost his address. I have been buying hearing aids by mail order from Illinois. I get them for about half of what I would pay locally. The only problem is that you have to be creative in getting your ear mold to fit where it don’t hurt your ear. The biggest problem is that no hearing aid I have had has ever lasted more than 3 or 4 years, usually not more that 18 months without having to be sent back for repairs, which cost from $90to 150. That gets expensive for my income.

yes i would buy one from anywhere how ever as long its going to help me hear .. i just broke mine .. i had it for past 3 years when i got it i was under 18 and i had insurance with my mom i could get one for free from childrens memorial hospital .. now its broken and there is no way i can get another from that hospital unless i have insurance or the money for it .. and i cant afford Just hearing test which is about 500.00 when i tried to purchase a hearing aid without hearing test .. they said its illegal to sell you one without hearing test .. and i got surprised that i cant get one for money that i can afford .. i am looking all around US websites to get one affordable .. if anyone has adjustable behind ear .. i would love to purchase it especially if anyone around chicago area ..

I just spent $3540.00 for both aids last week(and that was with a discount) . I am returning them today and Siemens will refund my amount. I need them, but can not justify spending that amount of money once I thought about it. I would love to buy used hearing aids!
You have an excellant idea and there is a need. Trying to find used hearing aids is very frustrating.
My only comment is that there should be a way for a person to go back into there entry and do an update. Add that they have sold the item or found what they need. If you just go by the entry date it is deceptive.

You can update your entry after you have created it on Hearing Aid Market. When you log in you should see a list of the hearing aids that you are selling – each line of the list has an “edit this” option. It’s also possible to edit your hearing aid to say that it has been sold and it will no longer display on the list.

I have 2 (right and left) Aura 400+ behind the ear hearing aids. I purchased them, wore them for several days–and really do not like wearing them. I like being able to hear voices, sounds, etc., that I cannot hear normally; I just cannot stand the feel of them in my ear. I do not know if it is legal to resale them, but I am certainly willing to sell them to someone that wants them.
Can you tell me if these are programmable for severe hard of hearing. My mother is in an assisted living facility; unfortunately both her hearing aids were “lost” within a few weeks of her going there and I am devastated. I like to take her out and to church, even though she is 99, but her limited hearing really affects her quality of life and it is not feasible to buy another expensive set at this time due to the cost of her care being way more than her income. Why is Hearing Aid Market down?
I’m selling a pair of Oticon Epoq’ and Phonak Supero’, I am a musician and I am on the hunt for the most natural sounding hearing aid I can find. Both sets were worn for about a day, however it is the compression of both aids that drive me nuts. I am still using my Oticon Digifocus II aids, kicking it old school, if anyone can recommend aids that will be best for handling high dB(think rock concerts), email me!

I’m selling my late mothers hearing aids. I have a left and right Starkey Destiny – one of which was purchased as a replacement for £1,600 GBP in June 2008 – so was only used for 4 months!). They are in a Starkey leather case which sits inside a Starkey silver and chrome plastic case complete with cleaning brushes & some soft rubber cleaning implements (?). These sit in the inner ear so I assume would need to be correctly fitted – but please do not quote me. Mum purchased these and found them to be fantastic as well as not ‘showing’ so nobody knew that she was hard of hearing. We only knew when she didn’t reply after we had been talking to her (selective hearing perhaps?)! Provided with a load of new batteries!
I also have a Opticon Spirit 3 hearing aid in its case that seems to sit around the ear – again please do not quote me as I am NO EXPERT! Supplied with batteries.
I think it would be great if someone else would like to use these and save you a fortune of purchasing new.

I have 2 Oticon hearing aids for sale. 1 is an Oticon Vigo pro, the other is a Oticon Vigo Pro P. They are the behind the ear type. My mother required them while in a nursing home. They were purchased for $6400aud in December 2008. She used them for about 4 months before passing away in August 2009. I then returned them to the original supplier for service, cleanup and checking in October 2009 under their 2 year warranty. I have all the original packaging, booklets etc.

My grandma passed away about two months ago. She had purchased her hearing aids about 4 months prior to that. The hearing aids are called Unitron Next 8. She had purchase them for about 4.500$. Willing to take best offer. Thanks for looking.

I have 2 used Phonak Exelia Art Custom Hearing Aids that were only used for a few years. When you look at the Phonak site, the product shows it without the molded part that goes into the ear.

It seems that a person could buy them and take it to an audiologists and order the molded part for their own ear. The list price is $3800 a piece. Do you know approx. what the cost for just the molded part and fee for an audiologist would be?
I have a pair of Starkey CIC’s for sale that I can no longer wear as I’ve grown to need the BTE style. Carrying case and cleaning cloth included, as well as a fresh pack of batteries.
They are about five years old but have been reshelled and the microphone, as well as the digital chip, has been replaced before I upgraded.

I signed up and tried to put this in the marketplace but it doesn’t seem to be working to see any ads. I have a Phonak, Milo SP, Left ear hearing aid that I’d like to sell. From research online I think they’re usually about $1K per ear. This one appears to be clean but we are having it sterilized and checked on Monday to make sure it works. We found it in some stuff from an estate sale so I don’t know much about it, but I figured someone could use it and we could use a few bucks too so please contact me at magkelly777@gmail.com after Monday if you might be interested. For the record the hearing aid does appear to work just fine and we did have it cleaned etc. The hearing aid guy we saw said it looks good but he advised us that it might need to be specifically programmed for whomever got it. I lose things, much as I try not to. I received 2 Siemen’s aids two years ago. Two nights ago I slept on them by mistake and now cannot find the right ear one. My boss won’t let me work without them. He’s very nasty and wants to get rid of me by Jan. 1st or sooner. I’m scared. I’m desperate to get at least one new one inexpensively. I’ve been at my restaurant 33 years.

We was wondering what your current price is for your pair of hearing aids. I am assuming these are BTE open fit hearing aids. It would be useful to know the Brand, model number, battery size, and when originally bought. I and my wife are elderly seniors, retired and on fixed incomes. I have older ITC aids that are starting to malfunction, and my wife recently was tested and told she would benefit from a pair of hearing aids. However, prices are so ridiculous that we cannot afford any — for either of us! Seeing we don’t know each other, I wondering how we could safely buy used ones over the internet, plus shoulder the added expense of obtaining audiograms and getting some hearing aid dealer to reprogram them when they often don’t want too. It would be better if you happened to be close enough to drive to. Please tell us what city and state you live in. Maybe you have ideas we haven’t considered. We don’t have home internet service, so we get to our local library now and then to check our E-Mail.
P.S. Was your own hearing loss the typical sky-slope on higher frequencies? Was your loss nearly even between ears or was one side quite different?

We know little about models and mfg companies but would like a pair that would be beneficial for everyday use. My Mother passed away November, 2010. We purchased a pair of hearing aids for her in December, 2009, so she wore them less than a year. They are Oticon-Epoq over the ear which comes with a streamer that allows hearing the phone and television through the hearing aids with a connectline adapter for the phone and TV. We have those as well. The hearing aids cost $4500 when we purchased them and the two adapter were $300 for both. They were are wonderful and helped her hear so much better. We would like to sell them so that someone else could get use of these. Thanks Kaye

I’ve been looking for a site like this for years. My husband was in construction for years and never wore ear protection. He needs hearing aids in both ears but we can’t afford thousands – audiologist recommended inner ear aids – not the shell type.
im sorry! i didnt hear a word you said! i find my self saying that a lot.my hearing loss is due to a life time on fishing boats,my friend with the same problem just got a hearing and he said john! i didnt know it but money makes a sound when you spend it(meaning the crinkling of the bills) only sound i hear is the cha ching! of a cash register,or me crying the blues! i must be missing out!

Hello I have for sale a pair of GN Resound be9 hearing aids come with box etc. cost £5000 new only been worn a couple of times would accept around £900 for them. They are tiny little digital device that fits in side your ear canal that can not be seen. Looking for a pair of used Exelia Art M hearing aids
Since 2007 I have been buying and selling hearing aids on ebay, it is a great way to try all kind of different hearing aids and decide How good they are. I have bought a dozen hearing aids, both new and used, and have sold 3 of them. And all this cost me less than 1500$ , which is less than the price of one new HA bought from an audiologist. I only had problem with one of them that I returned and was credited. The HA´s include Siemens Triano, Intuis, Rexton day, Oticon Vigo, Siemens Infiniti, Starkey, and even some chinese (Austar). I have been able to try great analogs and also digital aids. It´s also fun.
The main problem is that you need to go to an audiologist and they are not very happy to program the aids you did not buy from them. They also charge a lot of money , from 150$ to 250$, in many cases this is more than the price of the aids.
I am completely sure that there many usable hearing aids in many houses that could improve the life of many people. I would even go and say that half of the hearing in perfectly working order aids lay somewhere , I have heard about many people who tried hearing aids and gave up, or many who bought 3 pairs before they settled for something that worked for them. Where are all these hearing aids?
On top of that there are many aids sold on ebay from overstock or restocked from people who returned them to the seller. These are mostly new or like-new HA´s.
