The Phonak Bolero V50
The Bolero V50 is the Standard or second to bottom BTE hearing aid range from Phonak. BTE devices are hugely popular because they are also hugely versatile and reliable. You can read all of the details about BTEs on our Hearing Aid Types page. The Bolero V Range has been replaced by the Bolero B Range. You can read about them and other Phonak hearing solutions here. You can also read about the big six hearing aid manufacturers here.
The Bolero V (for Venture, the name of the chipset) replaces the Bolero Q (for Quest) hearing aid family. Phonak have introduced updated styles with newly designed casings. They have also made them available in the usual colours, both skin and hair type for discretion and loud fashion colours. As a standard hearing aid the devices deliver the best clarity available in even in many of the daily listening situations you face. So, let's take a deeper look at what the Bolero V50 hearing aid range has to offer you:
Styles and Colours
Designed to suit you
Phonak Bolero V is designed to suit your individual style and preferences. It comes in a choice of 11 colours, so you can match your personality, hair or skin with either vibrant or subtle tones. They can be worn with traditional tubing and moulds or they can be worn with thin tube and domes, whichever suits your hearing loss.
The Phonak Bolero V50 is the standard level hearing aid in the Bolero range. It contains a lower level of technology than the V70 with 12 sound processing channels and a range of features to help you to hear in a variety of listening situations. The three behind the ear models of Bolero are the V50-m (mini), the Bolero V50- p (power), and the Bolero V50-sp (super power).
The dust proof coating is also water repellent, ensuring that your hearing aid stays in great working order for longer. The V50 also benefits from Phonak's Binaural VoiceStream TechnologyTM which allows one hearing aid to recognise speech sounds and transmit the speech to both hearing aids in real time. This technology works alongside various other features to give you the best hearing clarity in different challenging listening situations. Many programmes are automatic, so you don't have to change your settings when moving from one place to another, others are manual, giving you more control over your own hearing.
So what is AutoSense OS? AutoSense is in effect the operating system or management system in the hearing aids. It analyses the sound environment you are in and makes changes to how other features and technology within the hearing aid is working. It is the overall feature that ensures you are having a good listening experience. It is a completely automatic feature that seamlessly alters your hearing aids to your changing listening environment. The blurb says - AutoSense OS accurately captures the precise listening environment you are in, changing when it needs to, to provide you with a comfortable listening experience throughout your day, which is pretty accurate.
Speech in Noise
Noise is reduced from the back allowing you to focus on the conversation in front of you.
Creates a comfortable listening environment to simply relax or enjoy a one to one conversation.

As with the V90 and V70, you have a number of automatic programmes, however, with the V50 you lose speech in car, comfort in echo and music. Phonak have made quite a bit about the Venture range's ability to handle music. So losing it at this level may be an issue for the music lovers out there. You also lose Speech in Loud Noise and Speech in Wind. Nevertheless, It is a multi programme aid and the programmes include;
- Comfort in Noise, reduces loud noise to make your hearing more comfortable.
- Speech in Noise, focuses your hearing to the front, reducing noise behind you.
- Calm Situation, adjusts your hearing aids for comfort and better hearing in quiet environments and one to one conversations.
