Phonak Virto V hearing aids

The Virto V30 is the Basic or bottom level custom or ITE hearing aid range from Phonak. ITE devices are hugely popular because they are discreet and cover many hearing losses. As we have said before, ITE devices do have their pros and cons, and they are not suitable for everyone. Even if they are suitable for you, there is clear information you need to understand to get the best out of them. You can read all of the details on our Hearing Aid Types page. You can read about the latest hearing aids from Phonak here. You can read about all of the best brands of hearing aids here.

The Virto V (for Venture, the name of the chipset) replaces the Audeo Q (for Quest) hearing aid family. Phonak have introduced updated styles with newly designed casings and features. As a basic hearing aid the devices deliver the best clarity available in quieter situations. So, let's take a deeper look at what the Virto V30 hearing aid range has to offer you:

Feature Rich

The Phonak Virto V30 is the entry level hearing aid in the Virto V range. It contains a lower level of technology than the V50 and has 8 sound processing channels. The V30  also benefits from Phonak’s Binaural VoiceStream TechnologyTM   which allows one hearing aid to recognise speech sounds and transmit the speech to both hearing aids in real time. Although it is an entry level aid it is still packed with technology and features which will help you hear well in calmer situations.

Virto V hearing aid types

The Virto V30-Nano is the smallest and is an "invisible in the canal" or IIC aid. The Virto V30-10 NW O is the smallest of the Virto's, slightly larger than the Nano. The 10 means it takes a size 10 battery, NW means no wireless so you miss out on all of the features for which wireless is needed. O stands for omnidirectional which means that you don't get the benefits associated with dual microphones. The Virto V30-10 O is the same as the previous model but with wireless and the Virto V30-10 is again the same but with dual microphones squeezed on. Moving up to the Virto V30-312 you have a larger "half shell" aid that takes a size 312 battery. The largest of them all is the Virto V30-13, a "full shell" aid that takes a size 13 battery.

AutoSense OS

Phonak autosense iconSo what is AutoSense OS? AutoSense is in effect the operating system or management system in the hearing aids. It analyses the sound environment you are in and makes changes to how other features and technology within the hearing aid is working. It is the overall feature that ensures you are having a good listening experience. It is a completely automatic feature that seamlessly alters your hearing aids to your changing listening environment. The blurb says - AutoSense OS accurately captures the precise listening environment you are in, changing when it needs to, to provide you with a comfortable listening experience throughout your day, which is pretty accurate.

Features

UltraZoom

UltrazoomDirectional microphones allow you to pick up the sound from all around you giving you a wide range to hear sound. The ultrazoom feature narrows this range to focus on a small area where someone is speaking. This gives you better speech understanding and reduces the effect of background noise. I don't think I need to explain this one, it is just another strategy that the microphone management uses.

Whistleblock

Whistle BlockThis feedback elimination feature recognises the feedback sound and removes it before you know it is there. As with the Echoblock feature, it can do this without sound distortion.

QuickSync

Quick SyncChanging the volume or setting on one hearing aid will automatically change the other hearing aid as well. This synchronisation makes sure the hearing aids are always working together.

NoiseBlock

Noise blockThis feature recognises continuous background sounds, such as traffic noise through a window, the dishwasher or office photocopier. It can reduce the volume of this sound so that speech is clearer and easier to understand.

SoundRecover

Sound RecoverThis feature takes the high frequency sounds which are outside your hearing range, such as children's voices and high pitched sounds, and makes them easier to hear.

Tinnitus Balance Noise Generator

Tinnitus BalanceThis feature helps to relieve the symptoms of tinnitus by generating a pleasant sound.

Phonak has a range of accessories which are fully compatible with the Virto range.
